Mary Kathryn Wykes is a watercolor artist residing in the DFW metroplex of Texas.  Having wished all her life that she could be an artist, Mary is thrilled to have discovered there was a reason for her passion.  She has always had an artistic soul, and now it is flying free.

Mary has had no formal art education other than a semester of high school art at McCallum in Austin,
Texas.  In her late 20's she participated in a private oil painting class for six months, and then allowed life to get in the way of her passion for art.

As she approached her 60's, she decided that it was "now or never" and signed up for weekly watercolor classes at a Hobby Lobby in
Arlington, Texas.  There she began her studies with Ann Winchester.  A week long seminar with Sue Scheewe in Oregon also helped build her confidence, and to give her the skills she needed.   Mary is now cheerfully pursuing her passion for art, and has begun accepting portrait commissions.

Ms. Wykes is also a registered teacher for the Wilcox School of Color, and is available to give practical color theory workshops throughout
Texas, and in nearby states as well.   Mary feels that her study of the Wilcox materials has been crucial to her development as an artist.
